30 Minutes to an organized space or D.I.Y project.

I need a bulletin board and a chalk board for my office.  I shopped for one and could not find what I was looking for.  I wanted a combo of cork/chalk board but could not find one.  I did not want one that is over done with stuff, such as ones for the class rooms.  Just a simple combo cork/chalk board.  So I decided the best thing to do was to make my own.

I purchased 2 24" X 36" cork bulletin boards from a yard sale for $3.00 each.  They are $40.00 and up at office depot.  I purchased chalk board paper from office deport for $9.99 a roll and pink tape from Walmart for $2.99.

I used Pink (don't know why but I did).

So on my quest to purge and organize my home and make it more functional, I started out with an engine full of steam.  However, for the last few weeks I was not in the  mood nor did I want to purge, organize or clean anything.  But I am back.

After looking around my home, I really have made major progress.  But guess what!  I still have all those junk draws in the kitchen.  All that JUNK taking up prime real estate.  So this week I have decided to tackle them.

My initial objective was to make this a 5 minute or less project but the did not prove to be the case.  So,  I had to make a different page.  So born is 30 minutes to an organized space or D.I.Y. projects.

So my first project was to make a beverage station.  I decided to use the counter space and one drawer next to the refrigerator.

Although I hesitate to show you my junk drawer (well one of them), in  keeping with the openness of my organizing journey I will show.  So, here goes.

Junk Drawer before purging, cleaning and organizing

Drawer after (can no longer call it a junk drawer)
I made this drawer into my beverage drawer
(tea, coffee and drink packs)
temporary house the jello but I will store that somewhere else

On the counter above the beverage drawer, I made a beverage station
(Keurig coffee maker, ninja juicer/blender)
(also my cook books)
The little plastic container to the left is used coffee grounds.  I put them on my rose bushes outside.  Helps them grow. (I'll show you a picture of my roses at a later date).

The pictures below is one of the other two junk drawers.

Drawer After
This drawer now house my baggies, foil, food wrap and straws.
Since I am working so much in the kitchen right now, I keep my P-Touch label maker here so I have easy access.

I still have the center junk drawer to clean out.  I don't have a purpose for the center drawer, so it will remain empty until I need it.

Oh by the way, I purchased nothing for this project.  I already had everything on hand.  Repurpose, reuse and think outside the box when you are organizing.
